UL Lafayette School of Music Presents: Peter Rowan
October 25, 2018
7:30 - 9:00 pm
Grammy award winner and six-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan is a singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades. From his early years playing under the tutelage of Bluegrass veteran Bill Monroe, to his time in Old & In the Way (David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Vassar Clements, John Kahn) and breakout as a solo musician and bandleader, Rowan has built a devoted, international fan base through a solid stream of records, collaborative projects, and constant touring.
Internationally, Rowan often performs as a solo singer-songwriter, while stateside he plays in three bands: the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, a quintet featuring Keith Little, Chris Henry, Blaine Sprouse and Paul Knight; Big Twang Theory and its Texas Cousin Twang n Groove; and rock band The Free Mexican Air Force.
For this date at UL Lafayette, Peter Rowan will perform solo with his guitar. Opening for him will be the university's own student bluegrass band, Vermilion Express, under the direction of Dr. Len Springer.
This concert is sponsored by the Dr. Tommy Comeaux Endowed Chair in Traditional Music. Special thanks to Louisiana Folk Roots and the Black Pot Festival for their partnership in bringing Peter Rowan to Lafayette.
Event is free to UL Lafayette students, staff, and faculty with UL ID card, as well as anyone under 18. Tickets for the general public will be $20 at the door (cash only) and $15 in advance. Advance sales will be online only.
Will Call tickets can be picked up prior to the concert at Burke-Hawthorne Hall.
We suggest patrons visit Will Call at least 30-minutes to an hour before the performance starts at 7 pm to pick up their tickets as this is a general admission show.
